Divided We Stand

In the early hours of November 9, 2016 Donald Trump was proclaimed the president-elect of the United States. He collected more than the necessary 270 electoral votes required to win the office from his opponent, Hillary Clinton. Political pundits are still trying to analyze his victory that appears to be a stunning upset. Half of the nation is relieved and half of the nation is deeply saddened with an undercurrent of fear. For those who are relieved, there is hope that the liberal progressive agenda will be slowed and possibly stopped. For those who are sad, there is a trailing belief that the new President is a sexist, a racist, an Islamic phobic, and an egomaniac, based on the distorted reports of the liberal-biased media. They are just as afraid and assign the same attributes to their fellow citizens who voted for Mr. Trump.

It was a close contest, but the votes in the electoral college determine the election of the President, not the popular vote, although in the end Trump garnered both the electoral votes and popular votes. The vote reflected that the nation is split down the middle with each side entrenched in their differences. The new president’s efforts to unify the nation and get the country moving forward in a positive way may be a bigger challenge than he and his team first imagined. “Making America Great Again” was his campaign slogan, and accomplishing that may be an even greater task than his upset victory for the office.

For many years, we have watched the United States and other major western nations move toward a global agenda and away from nationalism. National debts are staggering with economic doom looming over the entire world. Immigration issues confront the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Far East. One of the compelling issues in the election was illegal immigration from the South and illegal importation of Syrian Muslims (over and above all those who have legally applied and are waiting years for citizenship), facilitated by the federal government. Europe is facing major obstacles from its wide open borders policies and mass immigration from the Middle East. The changing demographics and the damaging economics are welcomed by globalists while it is opposed by nationalists. Globalists want to remove borders and balance the economic scales (you can read a lot into this), believing this will end all wars and conflicts.

For those of us watching the end-time prophecies, it appears that God is judging us as He did Israel in years past. We have seen our leaders and fellow citizens walk away from the Lord and the heritage of our nation, replacing it with a social justice agenda promoting sexual perversion, judging the righteous as guilty and the guilty as righteous. In the recent election, Hillary Clinton was publically exposed as a criminal in a multitude of ways. Her email scandal showed blatant violations of law in handling highly classified material. It also revealed that the Clinton Foundation became a money-laundering scheme, exploiting her office as Secretary of State with bribes and “Pay for Play” schemes. She was repeatedly proven to have directly lied to the families of the Benghazi disaster. (She was the one who ordered NO rescue attempt, leading to the tortured deaths of the Ambassador, his aide, and two Special Forces members when the Embassy was overrun.) She lied to Congress on numerous issues all confirmed by the FBI. She lied to the American people about the Middle East issues, trying to hide the fact that it was her direct leadership in the Egyptian uprising, promoting the Muslim Brotherhood, and sending weapons to the Syrian rebels out of Libya. Those same Syrian rebels are what is called the ISIS caliphate today. Despite these astonishing accusations and evidence against her, her supporters chose to remain ignorant of the facts and/or didn’t care, which is also troubling.

Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton had terrible résumés going into the election, yet Donald Trump won. Of those who voted for Donald Trump, many of them just didn’t want Hillary to be President. But something else also happened in the election. The Republicans held control of the Senate and the Congress. Across the various states, there were even more Republican victories with Democrats losing state majority control of legislatures and other state offices. The Democrats lost the Presidency, the Senate, the House of Representatives, state governments, and future nominations to the Supreme Court. The only portion of government in which they have any real say is the minority position in the Senate, where they can be very disruptive to the governing process in the next two years (until the next Senate race when there will be a larger number of Republican Senators).

In the next two years with the new election for Senators and Congressmen, the Democrats are at far greater risk of losing even more government seats. I don’t think the Democrats are going to lay down and quit, but they are devastated right now.

As I write this article, it is the middle of November, but you are reading it in December. What does all of this mean to us who are believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? How does this fit into the prophecies of the end of days and the coming of the Great Tribulation?

Yeshua taught one particular spiritual law that seems to speak boldly to what we see at this moment.

And knowing their thoughts Yeshua said to them, "Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself will not stand.” Matthew 12:25

I entitled this article “Divided We Stand.” It is an oxymoron, namely, it is a contradiction within itself. The United States is divided against itself. The divisions are deep and wide. The country cannot come together anymore. The citizens of the country no longer share a common vision anymore. The vision of the founding fathers is no longer the vision of a large section of the citizens of today. Half of the country doesn’t even believe in the democratic vote or the processes of government as laid out in the Constitution. The Constitutional Amendments have been twisted into laws the founders never imagined. It is very similar to how erring religious leaders have twisted the Scriptures to justify their own bizarre doctrines. The liberal progressive movement openly acknowledges that they don’t want the Constitution with its specific limitations on government or expressed freedoms of the people anymore.

As I write these words, George Soros (the billionaire globalist/socialist) has funded MoveOn.org (a Clinton support organization formed when Bill Clinton was being impeached) and called for nationwide protests in all cities and towns of America one day after the election. These protestors are rejecting the decision of the election and the vote of the American people. They are even rejecting and revolting against the Democratic leaders. Many of them don’t even want to be Democrats anymore. Many of them didn’t even vote in the election!

Who are these people? Many of them are young adults called Millennials. Some are public figures who swore they would leave the country if Trump was elected. I believe they were genuinely shocked by the results. I doubt that they will leave. Some are Bernie Sanders supporters. They lost to Clinton in the Democratic party’s primary nomination process and withdrew from the Democratic convention. They are embittered and have since learned the nomination process was rigged. Then they joined Clinton to beat Trump. They lost again. Now they are really upset and have lost faith in the political process. Black Lives Matters (a black activist group that exploits social tragedies to agitate the public) has joined this group calling for a race war. Revolution is brewing. You can be sure that, like other liberal protests, there will be violence and destruction in the streets. Our police officers will again stand on the line to protect their communities and be threatened. The national media will broadcast the events using camera angles to make it appear greater than it is. This is how you have “thousands” protesting when it is a hundred here, two hundred there, fifty here, and three hundred over there and it is happening in twenty different cities.

There is now a discussion beginning in California calling for California to secede from the United States. Apparently the executives in Silicon Valley don’t like the rest of America. Hand in hand with that, students walked out of classes at various colleges (including high school students) and they burned United States flags in public protest. There are voices in Oregon calling for the same thing.

Despite President Obama and Hillary Clinton asking their supporters to “give the new President a chance,” a vile and hostile anti-God, anti-conservative, anti-white, anti-police, populace has been unleashed on the entire country.

Twitter® is full of people calling for the assassinations of Donald Trump and Mike Pence, his Vice President-elect. This is a nightmare for the Secret Service. By the way, it is a Federal offense to call for the death of the President or a President-elect.

Just as the Messiah said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

What is the end game in all of this? What will be the end result? Destruction.

Despite what you think of Donald Trump’s election, destruction is coming to America. “We have found the enemy and he is us.” (Walt Kelly, 1970) The cover is off; lawlessness and anarchy are the order of the day and will grow to become worse.

Maybe you are still thinking it is not that bad and everything will get back to the “good ‘ole days.” Maybe God will grant us favor and return the nation to its former blessing and prosperity. While I would love to believe such goodness, I do not seriously believe that will happen. I believe we are just witnessing a moment of growth for the wheat, but the tares are still growing as well. The divisions in our country and world are much deeper and more spiritual than appears on the surface. I have discovered that if you differ from the globalist and socialist ideology (anti-God) people in any way, they will consider you to be a threat to them and will use their fear to justify harming you!

Here is a Facebook post from a liberal member of my own family living in one of the states that voted for Donald Trump. This is what was said the day before the election.

“Coming home from a day to the Alma area, I saw a group of Trump supporters standing on the corner of a very busy intersection waving signs and American flags. An impromptu rally? Then as I entered Owosso, I saw it again. It’s hard to explain the feeling I had, but I think it was fear. Instead of feeling what I would expect to be feeling when witnessing enthusiastic patriots championing their candidate, what I felt was ominous and cold. As I passed by, their joyful faces seemed to be incongruent with what they were promoting. It was as though the signs were a display of violence, and flags were an abomination. The juxtaposition you might see in a horror film, that is meat to curdle your blood. They weren’t wearing hoods, or carrying burning crosses, but it was as if they were. Should I be afraid? Will they come for me when they find out I am not like them? Will they want to purge me from “their country?” Now that Pandora’s box has been opened, can we ever recover our innocence?”

Where did this imaginary fear come from when observing a Trump rally? The media’s liberal bias has brainwashed the population. We think the conflict and the election is over and done with. It is not over for a very determined plurality of people in our country. It is their intent to reject the election results, including the Democratic party, to sow anarchy and lawlessness in this country. This is a sample of what is coming out of liberal commentators, blogs, and social media all over the nation one day after the election.

“It’s not just about Trump for me. What scares me is knowing that I live in a country where a majority is okay with racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, and sexual assault.”

And another said this:

“I stand by you whether you are gay, disabled, female, trans, black, Muslim or part of any community that is bullied by white supremacy. There’s nothing else I can say other than I stand by you, I will fight for you, go to jail for you and I love you. No matter what.”

I could share many more, but these will suffice for the moment. These people actually want to believe that we are anti-female, anti-disabled, anti-black, homophobic, xenophobic, that we’re okay with sexism, and that we are white supremists? So they thought they would vote for a murderer-traitor-liar-thief to counter the conservative vote? We find ourselves in the midst of a divided nation. One part of that division no longer believes in the goodness of the nation and is ready to abandon its principles including the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion. Based on their illogical phobias, they are justifying themselves to openly attack and to harm other citizens. They have justified themselves with a bizarre self-defense argument. They are fear mongering.

Am I promoting fearing them? Some may think that. Am I not adding to an already exacerbated problem? Others might think as well. But the truth is that I am reporting to you the facts and comparing them to what Yeshua said to us.

Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. Matthew 24:9-12

Did the Messiah share this with us to make us afraid? I do not believe so. Instead, we need to be realistic and know the truth to be safe and kept safe. In the 1930’s in Germany, many Jews were warned with an assortment of facts what was happening to other Jews, but the Jewish populace didn’t face the reality. We know the results of not understanding the times and the trends that were happening. The same applies to us today. If you have not been aware yet, Christians are being slaughtered in multiple nations by ISIS. The United States is not exempt from this prophecy.

So how does Donald Trump’s election fit into God’s plan for Jerusalem and Israel? Jerusalem is the center of the world, the bullseye for the conflict at the end of the ages. Donald Trump appears to be very supportive of Israel and Jerusalem. He made a campaign pledge to move the United States Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem (something Congress has authorized for years). He has already invited Prime Minister Netanyahu to visit him at the White House first and intends to reverse President Obama’s stance toward Israel. In Israel, the right wing elements of the government and populace believe President Trump will abandon the “two-state solution” and call for Israel to annex the entire West Bank including the control of the Temple Mount. Temple Mount activists have invited the new President to come to the Temple Mount!  Right-wing and conservative members of the Knesset are even calling for the Muslim call to prayers over the loud speakers be silenced or significantly reduced.

If President Trump takes even limited steps in this direction, the Arab world is likely to explode. It might even trigger the famed Ezekiel 38 and 39 war with Gog and Magog. It might also embolden the Israeli government to reverse its position on Jewish Prayer on the Temple Mount, allocating a portion of the mount to the Jews, resulting in the construction of an altar to the God of Israel. This, as you know, is the prerequisite that leads the world to the Great Tribulation.

Again, as I write this article in the middle of November, France has called for negotiations to be held in Paris for Israel and the Palestinians to force an agreement on the two-state issue. Israel has said no. There is great fear, with good reason, that President Obama will use his last days in office to do some very radical things. He just signed an executive order to make permanent federal funding to Planned Parenthood. There are fears that Obama may pardon the Clintons prior to leaving office.  He is also considering to withhold the US veto in the United Nations Security Council to outlaw the entire nation of Israel before the world. He can do all this before President Trump can do anything, and many of these actions will hamstring President Trump’s pro-Israel efforts.

Consider this interesting fact from the election concerning the subject of the Greater Exodus. If you look at the map of the United States outlining the counties in the country and measure how they voted, half of the citizens that voted for Mr. Trump live outside the cities. More than 90% of all the counties voted for him. The other half of the citizens are all in large metropolitan cities. I think this further confirms why God warns us to escape the Great Tribulation by going into the “wilderness of the peoples” (the country), away from the cities.

Will the Great Tribulation begin this winter? Will the next Passover be our time to escape and begin the Greater Exodus? If it is, then many things still need to happen in rapid succession. The Lord can make it happen if that is His will. But if He still wishes to be long-suffering and bring more believers into the kingdom, then I have no problem with that either (in fact, I want to see more turn to Him). Either way, it will be all right.

Despite the momentary success of Mr. Trump’s election, I offer great caution for your enthusiasm. The country is split down the middle. God’s judgment is on our land and many other nations. A house divided cannot stand. We are divided. We will not stand.

There is an old Chinese proverbs that says, “May you live in interesting times.” This proverb seems apropos for us today. We see the wheat and tares growing together. Let me remind you of what Yeshua said in that parable.

Yeshua presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away. But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also. The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ And he said to them, ‘An enemy has done this!’ The slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them. Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, ‘First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.’” Matthew 13:24-30

I have a personal reason why this this parable has stood out to me in my life. As a youngster (age 14 through 16) I worked the wheat harvest for a summer job. In fact, I was on a harvest crew driving a combine the entire summer from late May through August until school began. I was on a crew that harvested wheat and grain from the Red River separating Texas and Oklahoma north to the Montana and North Dakota at the Canadian border. It was an incredible adventure for me as a boy from Kansas.

But, I remember one particular field that year. All of the other fields were waves and oceans of golden wheat, as far as the eye could see sometimes. But this one field was completely different. It was full of green weeds. In fact, when we were told to harvest the field, I asked what we were supposed to harvest. I saw a little bit of wheat there, but the weeds seemed to cover it up and I knew the combine would get clogged with green weeds. We went into the field slowly and to my surprise, the bin was filled with grain. The weeds were separated with the chaff.  The field was loaded with wheat, but it wasn’t truly visible until we began to harvest it.

The parable of the wheat and tares, coupled with my own experience working the harvest, has gone a long way toward helping me to understand the days we live in. I see the increasing harm in the world and yet I also know that God is working wondrous things among my brethren. While we face uncertainty in the world, I see us making our way to the kingdom.

As we close in on the end of days and beginning of the Great Tribulation, I believe we will see very interesting things taking place, all of which will reveal our Sovereign God and His impending justice. There will be bad things happen and the enemy rise up (the tares) and very good things happen and the brethren will increase (the wheat). But we know the end of the story and how it all works out.

Therefore, I say to you, “Enjoy the moment, but remember this is a battle for souls and ownership of the earth and it won’t end until the Messiah steps back on the earth as the King of Kings.”

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58
